The Differences Between QBH and QCS Interfaces on Laser Cutting Heads

What is the difference between the QBH and QCS interfaces on laser cutting heads for laser generators?
The interface section of the fiber optic cable that connects to the laser cutting head commonly includes QBH, QD, as well as QCS and RK interfaces, which can be compatible with a variety of lasers.
1. Different fiber input methods:
QBH Import Operation Sequence:
Remove the plastic protective cap at the top of the connector block.
Align the small hole on the QBH with the small hole on the connecting block, insert the QBH connector, and push it in all the way until it clicks into place.
Tighten the locking nut on the connecting block in a clockwise direction, as shown in the figure below.


Lift the locking nut and tighten it clockwise again.
QCS/QD Import Procedure Sequence:
Loosen the set screws on the QCS/QD connection block, insert the QCS/QD connector all the way in, then tighten the set screws as shown in the figure below.

The QCS connection block has 4 fixing screws, while the QD connection block has 1 fixing screw.
2. Different centering methods
There are two types of centering modules, so there are also two methods of centering. Please refer to the table below for the differences between the two centering approaches.

QBH (with Collimating Lens) Centering Method
Alignment is achieved by adjusting the X‑Y axes of the collimating lens. A. Alignment Tools: Two adjustment screws, located on both sides of the front of the alignment module, as shown in the figure below.


B. Alignment Method: Each adjustment screw has a spring on the opposite side. When you manually tighten or loosen the adjustment screw, the corresponding spring stop also extends and retracts, causing the position of the collimating lens to shift accordingly, ultimately achieving the goal of aligning the center.
QCS/QD (Lens Without Collimating Lens) Alignment Method:
A. Centering Tool:
The adjustment screws are located around the centering module, as shown in the figure.

There are 4 in total, grouped in pairs—tighten one while loosening the other—for coordinated adjustment.
B. Centering Method:
When tightening one of the adjustment screws, first loosen the screw on the opposite side by hand, then tighten this screw.
Adjust the two sets of adjusting screws until the beam is centered.
After centering is complete, confirm once again that all adjustment screws are fully tightened.
Additional Information: QBH Characteristics:
The QBH guide point is continuously adjustable by 360 degrees. The 360-degree adjustability of the QBH guide point can completely eliminate torsional stress in the fiber, effectively preventing optical loss caused by fiber twisting and bending, thereby extending the fiber’s service life.
Fine compensation of the collimated optical path. Precise optical path compensation can correct for mechanical deviations that occur during fiber coupling or within external optical systems, ensuring absolute consistency in the output beam or focused spot and thereby guaranteeing the repeatability of laser processes.
Excellent optical path system and direct water‑cooling design. Suitable for industrial applications of fiber lasers and semiconductor laser diodes, with all optical components featuring a direct water‑cooling structure capable of handling high laser power.
