  An automatic laser welding machine is an automated welding device that uses high‑energy laser pulses to locally heat extremely small areas of material. The energy from the laser radiation spreads into the material via thermal conduction, causing the material to melt and form a specific weld pool. It is primarily used for welding thin‑walled materials and precision components, capable of performing spot welding, butt welding, lap welding, and seal welding. This type of machine features narrow weld beads, fast welding speeds, high welding quality, zero porosity, precise control, high positioning accuracy, and ease of automation.

   2. What Is a Manual Laser Welding Machine?

 As the name suggests, a manual laser welding machine is welding equipment that requires manual operation. This welding device can perform laser welding on long‑distance and large‑scale workpieces. During welding, the heat‑affected zone is minimal, preventing deformation, discoloration to black, or visible marks on the back side of the workpiece. Moreover, it offers deep penetration, strong welds, and thorough melting. There are no depressions at the joint between the raised portion of the molten pool and the substrate.

  Once automated settings are configured in the software, welding is performed automatically according to the programmed sequence; manual welding, also known as spot welding, involves operators visually inspecting and performing spot welds on the screen with high-magnification magnification.

  When users purchase laser welding equipment, it is typically custom‑manufactured by the laser equipment manufacturer according to the user’s specific requirements. Very few manufacturers keep finished products in stock. If there are any in stock, they are usually provided to users as prototypes or samples for reference. More often than not, the power and functionality of the welding equipment are determined through consultation with the user, with the goal of offering cost‑effective solutions that deliver high value for money whenever possible. So, under what circumstances is it better to use a manual laser welding machine?

  Compared with fully automatic laser welding machines, not only are the procurement costs higher, but the maintenance costs are also considerable. The more complex a system is, the more critical maintenance becomes—and naturally, the costs rise accordingly. Moreover, fully automatic laser welding machines rely heavily on CNC automation of the worktable, placing high demands on both the functionality and versatility of the worktable. However, in practical applications, this approach is far from universal; many products with different switch configurations may not be compatible, which in turn limits the capabilities of fully automatic laser welding machines.
