The laser drive circuit includes a laser beam generator and a modulation circuit, an optical modulation device, as well as a scanning motor control and drive circuit. To diagnose this type of failure, first open the machine, remove the laser unit, then lift the laser’s cover and use a multimeter (with three pins) to directly measure the laser’s DC resistance. Next, inspect the surface of the focusing lens for signs of coating degradation, dust, or discoloration.

Laser Repair - Scan motor control and drive circuit failure. Laser Repair To ensure that the laser beam emitted by the laser generator scans the entire photosensitive component, the laser beam must be deflected—and this is achieved using a scanning mirror driven by an electric motor. This is a multi‑faceted mirror that utilizes the lateral surfaces of a regular polygonal cylinder as reflective surfaces, which are rotated at high speed by an electric motor. It consists of multiple mirrors—ranging from two to six, depending on the machine model—combined with a single motor. This motor is referred to as the “att motor.” When the att motor’s rotational speed becomes abnormal, the laser cannot be properly adjusted during maintenance, leading to issues with laser power. To diagnose this type of failure, open the machine, remove the laser, then lift the laser’s cover and manually rotate the scanning mirror (taking care not to touch the mirror’s surface with your hands), after which you should observe whether the scanning mirror rotates freely and whether its axis appears to be stuck or jammed.

The laser beam transmission path refers to the process by which the laser beam emitted by the laser is focused by a focusing lens, modulated by a series of scanning rotary mirrors, scanning lenses, and laser beam detection mirrors, and then reflected off mirrors to strike the photosensitive drum, thereby forming a two‑dimensional latent image. When a fault occurs in the beam transmission path, laser spots will appear. To diagnose this type of failure, open the machine, remove the laser, then lift the laser’s cover and inspect the internal optical components for toner or dust. In addition, there are also laser system components and other related parts. At this point, the frame should also be removed for inspection.
