How to Adjust the Optical Path of a Laser Cutting Machine

  1. For the first light adjustment, apply masking tape to the beam‑target hole on reflector A, then manually pulse the laser (note: do not use too much power at this stage). Fine‑tune the base of reflector A and the laser tube holder so that the beam strikes the center of the target hole—make sure the beam is not blocked.

  

  2. For the second light adjustment, move mirror B to the far end and project light from near to far using a piece of stiff cardboard, guiding the light into the cross‑hair target. Since the far‑end light is inside the target, the near end must also be inside the target. Next, align the near‑end and far‑end light spots so that they match—whenever the near end deviates, the far end follows suit—ensuring that the crosshair remains in the same position within both the near‑end and far‑end light spots. When the near end is (or the far end is) aligned, it indicates that the optical path is parallel to the Y‑axis rail.

  

  3. Adjustment of the Third Beam (Note: The crosshair should divide the light spot evenly from left to right). Move the reflector C to the far end, guide the light into the light target, and fire at the target once at both the near end and the far end. Compare the position of the crosshair and adjust it so that it aligns with the position of the crosshair within the light spot at the near end. At this point, the beam is parallel to the X‑axis. If the optical path is tilted inward or outward, you need to loosen or tighten M1, M2, and M3 on mirror mount B until the light spot is evenly divided from left to right.

  

  4. For the adjustment of the fourth beam, affix a piece of masking tape over the light-emitting aperture, allowing the aperture to leave a circular mark on the tape. Briefly activate the light output, remove the tape, and observe the position of the small hole. Adjust M1, M2, and M3 on the mirror holder C as needed until the light spot becomes perfectly round and centered.

  

  Method for measuring focal length: Use the focal length ruler provided by our laser cutting machine manufacturer. Raise and lower the nozzle until it aligns with the “5” on the focal length ruler—this is when the beam is at its brightest and most intense—and then securely tighten the screw.
